Eligibility criteria for the Teen Driver Course

Criterion 1

Required Steps

Texas law requires teenagers to complete a 32-hour theoretical course, 7 hours of driving, and 7 hours of observation. An additional 30 hours of driving with a parent or instructor must be logged before they can obtain their license.

Criterion 2

Online Course

We have an available road education program shortly before turning 15 years old. When selecting the program, make sure it includes both theory and behind-the-wheel training.

Criterion 3

Permit Application

Tu Escuelita de Manejo will mail you the documentation for your permit after successfully completing the course, so you can then take this certificate to the DPS along with the other required identification documents.

Criterion 4

Completing the Program

You must successfully complete 32 hours of theoretical coursework, as well as a minimum of 7 hours of driving and 7 hours of driving observation either with a certified instructor or with a certified parent.

Criterio 5

Transfer

Many students transfer to us after starting with another institution. You can transfer to Your Driving School to complete your road education program. However, before starting with us, we will introduce you to our driving system.

Criterion 6

Complete Registration of 30 Hours

The 81st Texas Legislature enacted the Less Tears, More Years Act, requiring young drivers to receive 30 hours of behind-the-wheel instruction. At least 10 of these hours must be conducted during nighttime hours. Your Driving School can provide some or all of these required hours.

Criterio 7

Practical test

Tu Escuelita de Manejo is authorized to offer the official practical test at our facility. Earn your license in a familiar environment! To do this, you must have already taken the impact course.

Criterio 8

Get your License

To obtain your license, you will need to receive the licensing portion of your DE-964 from your course provider. You will bring this certificate to DPS along with any other required identification documents. If you take your road test with Tu Escuelita de Manejo, we will provide you with a sealed envelope to take to DPS.
